Framed Baby Monogram Decor

My best friend is having baby number two TODAY and we are all so very excited for his arrival! She had her baby girl five weeks after I had Owen and the two of them are little besties.  Now I am pregnant with a girl and she is having a little boy… how very picket fences of us!

I will either be visiting them in the hospital tonight or tomorrow and I wanted to bring something homemade for the little guy’s room.  I whipped up this framed monogram in no time:

Colin-Frame

I used Fancy Pants’ Wave Searcher line… which is totally beachy but you would never know it from this project.  The frame and the wooden monogram are from the local craft store.

The outer mat has been covered in paper and the edges inked.  I painted the wooden monogram in blue first, then distressed it with brown ink.  I covered the front in paper and tied a bunch of twine around the bottom.  The bottom right corner has an accordion circle and the upper left corner has a little chipboard banner.

They can prop this frame up on a shelf or dresser or hang it on a wall.  Welcome baby Colin!!! You are so loved already!

File This Under AWESOME

Last week my memory file project went up on the Heidi Swapp blog and I have to admit it was one of my favorite projects to do.  I giggled the entire way through it.

The memory file products are so different than anything out there in the scrap world.  They are interactive and make you really think outside the box.  So when I got them I wondered what I could make that would take the original idea of filing and turn it into something a bit more fun and unexpected.

Two year olds pretty much take the cake on fun and unexpected! Owen got his very own case file… a detective’s dossier on all his naughtiness.

He has a route tracker map, a faux passport, a rap sheet, and I even fingerprinted him.  ::snicker:: I had SO much fun doing this project and I am sure it will make for excellent first girlfriend viewing.  Yeah, I’m evil like that!!

Making ‘Em Laugh

The latest round of Operation Write Home cards are going out via May Arts and a whole mess of other scrap companies as sponsors.  Awesome!  Except the theme this time was “Make ‘Em Laugh” and it turns out that is one tough cookie theme!  I don’t really play with stamps too much and definitely don’t have any clever ones so that was out.

So I found this little gem and created a birthday card for it…

I am rather fond of this one!! I like witty over cutesy so this did the trick.

You should definitely check out the laughs on the hop.  My card was created for May Arts but the first stop is at Stars and Stamps.   And Operation Write Home is such a fabulous organization that May Arts will be having a giveaway just for commenting! Bonus!
