A Gifty Kind of Weekend

If you follow astrology in any way you can sympathize with me when I tell you that growing up I was the lone Aquarius living with FOUR (help me!) Aries.  And aside from dealing with a lot of “passionate” personalities I also had to deal with my mom, dad, sister, and brother all having birthdays within two weeks of each other!

This past week was my parents’ birthdays and they got the ever popular “photo of the grandchild” gift.  If you haven’t made a photo into a canvas yet I highly suggest doing it! I used CanvasPeople.com for mine because they’ve been running a crazy awesome deal on and off for months where you can get $50 off any size which makes the 8” x 10” only cost you shipping charges.  Score

They got this photo of out little monster:

I also whipped up these sweet burp cloths from cloth diapers for a friend about to have her first baby within the next few weeks.  I love making stuff for babies!

I’m hoping to actually do some scrapping tonight after Mister O is in bed.  I feel so behind and the mojo is going to ‘splode outta me if I don’t work with it!! Smile

Going Green

This month the Right at Home gals have been going GREEN!

Check out what I repurposed to make this cute container for Owen’s “stuff” when he gets a bit older… can you guess what it originally held?

See the answer and the rest of my post over on the Right at Home blog!

Reflections

Wow, that makes it sound like this blog post will be a heavy one!

Actually I am referring to the new Prima Reflections line that I just revealed at A Cherry on Top!  Who doesn’t love Prima?? I certainly do and the Reflections line is simply stunning.  Check out what I did with the new papers, blooms, flocked rub-ons, and hanging charms in my full article.

This layout was one of my favorites (I am a sucker for orange and teal!)

And this card weighs about seven pounds but I think you’ll agree with me that it’s worth it for all those luscious layers!

Prima Merci

See you tomorrow when I am back with some more BOY fun with Right at Home!

Pow, Straight To the Moon!

I had the pleasure of working with Fancy Pants Designs’  To the Moon line for Right at Home Scrapbooking this month.  This is such a fun line for boys!  I love all the bright papers and guy “stuff” like robots, aliens, and monsters.

The star element on this paper is so 1980’s-riffic you just HAVE to smile!

Clip Calendar

I’m a bit of an old fashioned kind of gal (despite the smartphone, laptops everywhere, and new XOOM tablet on the way…) and I like my calendar in paper, thankyouverymuch.

As convenient as digital or online calendars can be I just miss the feeling of actually writing important events or information down myself.  Maybe it helps me remember things to write them down.  Or maybe I just like playing with paper.  Winking smile

I’ve been meaning to update my scrap area calendar for a while (so the months on this are non-traditional) and I had an old clipboard hanging around so I decided to repurpose it!  I painted it, distressed it, and covered it in Pink Paislee and Mod Podge.  The calendar pages are an internet download.  I used flat stickers for the months so the pages would not be too bulky to stack and made hang tags to find other months quickly.  I finished it off with a simple refillable mechanical pencil tied to the top.

My Acceptance Speech

Shayla over at Shayla’s Creations was a total doll and offered up my lil ole blog as a winner of the Liebster Blog award… how sweet is she!

Liebster award

Part of the deal is that you pass the award on to three other blogs with less than 300 followers that deserve recognition for a blog well done.  No problem!  I love me some blogs!

1. Leslie at I am my Favorite Scrapbooker for her tell-it-like-it-is humor.

2. Meg at Thoughts of Scrapbooking for her inspiring projects.

3. Scrap That Baby! For the awesome baby scrapping inspiration of course!

So check them out… I am sure you will love them as much as I do!

A Project for Saturday Morning

NOTE: This project is now out for publication!  See it in the Sept./Oct. issue of Simply Handmade! Smile
************************************************

Ok, so that’s a little bit of a lie considering I started this yarn wreathe yesterday during nap time.  These yarn wreathes are blowing up craft blogs everywhere and I wanted to put my spin on one.  What NO ONE tells you is how flipping long it takes to wind the yarn around the wreathe form.  Blargh. Consider yourself warned!

Out for Pub

I love the look of the heathered gray yarn.  I got it on sale at AC Moore and the wreathe form came from an ugly kit on clearance at Christmas Tree Shops.  I had the felt and flowers in my stash so the entire project came in at about $7.  Not too shabby!

I created the large dahlia flower from the tutorial on the Holidash site and the tutorial for the smaller yellow flower was of course from Martha.  The other felt flowers were premades from Maya Road and Prima.  Hey, I’m lazy like that.

Out for Pub

The dahlia took forever but it’s pretty awesome.

Out for Pub

The resin flower center is from Making Memories and I hung the wreathe from a wide piece of twill ribbon I had in my ribbon stash.

I am kind of in love with this project.  I am totally digging the colors!
